Actually Excited for Labor!

Less than 50 days to go! Woot! Last night Adam and I went to our first of two private Lamaze classes with a local Doula. I honestly thought I would leave the class in a complete panic mode about labor, but I actually feel so much more confident and capable in my abilities. We have one more session with her next week. My plan for this labor is to deliver completely natural with no interventions. Obviously, you never know what delivery will have in store for you, but I am going in with all intentions to deliver this guy naturally. We had a great session last night where we focused on breathing and laboring positions. The session taught Adam and I what we should expect and gave us tips on when we should actually go to the hospital. It's suggested that you wait as long as possible to go to the hospital if trying for natural childbirth. The less time you're there, the less time there is for intervention. :) Hopefully our little guy is cooperative on his birthday.

Everything else is still going swimmingly. I feel great. I've been staying heartburn free, still working out at least 4 times a week, and I just feel healthy in general. The nightly bathroom breaks are  getting a little exhausting, though. My record is 6 in 8 hours... Oh well. Guess I need to get use to being woken up throughout the night.

I had issues getting my weekly picture this morning, so this blurry self-portrait will have to do.  Either little guy had a growth spurt this week or horizontal stripes just aren't flattering on a pregnant woman's body....

Healthy Baby! Happy Mommy and Daddy!

Another successful appointment down! Baby D is 32 weeks cooked today. Adam came to the appointment this morning because we had a sonogram scheduled. Baby D looked PERFECT! Strong heart beat, measuring right on track, and our little man is positioned head down!! Keeping fingers and toes crossed that he gets nice and comfy in that position and doesn't move too much in the next 8 weeks. Baby D seems to take after daddy, though, and was being very shy. He did not want to give us a good look at his face and every time we came close he decided it was better to suck on his hands than show us his face. So, unfortunately, we weren't able to get any pictures. Mommy and baby are super healthy, though, so I won't complain. Right now they are estimating his weight at 4lbs, 4oz. Looks like we might have a little chubby cheeked cutie on our hands.

I still feel spectacular! I am definitely noticing that I am slowing down and sometimes get pretty uncomfortable at night, but I still can't complain that much. Baby D is treating me so well and I'm so thankful for that. Still stretch mark free and my belly button is still in...just a little stretched out and funky looking!

This picture was taken before a wedding this weekend at 31 1/2 weeks!
Still able to wear high heels!!

Single Digit Countdown!

Um....where on earth did the time go!?! 9 weeks or LESS until our little guy enters the world. Ridiculous. Adam and I are so incredibly excited!

On Sunday, Adam and I went to Richmond for Easter to spend the holiday with his side of the family. To our surprise when we got to his grandparent's house, his family had put together a sweet little baby shower together for us! My big baby shower is in May, but some of Adam's family won't be able to make it, so they wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to celebrate Baby D. It was the sweetest thing in the world and we received some very thoughtful and adorable gifts.

Not much else to report this week. Next Thursday Adam and I will go to the doctor where we'll get our 32 week ultrasound! Excited to see our little guy again and will definitely share our updates next week.

Baby Cooked in 70 Days or Less! WHAT!?!

Holy cow - Baby D is 30 weeks cooked today! That's ridiculous. He's going to enter this world in 10 weeks or less. Adam and I are just in awe of this little dude growing in my belly.
Baby is doing wonderfully. I had an appointment at the doctor's office this morning and everything seems to be going very well. I received my glucose test results (checking for gestational diabetes), and my numbers were excellent. There is concern for a 131 or above, but I checked in right at 81! My iron levels came back a little low which is common - babies like to steal everything from their mamas! The midwife gave me the name of an over-the-counter iron supplement that I'm going to pick up today to help out. She said that increasing my iron should help some of my fatigue too. Fundal height was measuring right around 29cm which is perfect (he's right on track), and he had a nice, solid heartbeat. We had trouble picking it up for a while because the little guy just wouldn't stay still. In fact, when she was going over my tummy with the Doppler trying to locate his heart, he gave it a nice little kick for the midwife. Right now we think he is laying transverse (sideways), which is perfectly normal. We want him to begin his decent into position within the next month.

Monday night Adam and I attended a 3 hour infant care class. We learned all about bathing babies, swaddling, etc. It was a really great class and we're super happy we went. In a couple of weeks we begin 5 weeks (1 class a week for 2 hours) of natural birthing/Lamaze classes. This is all becoming so, so real and we couldn't be more excited.

Adam and I get back in two weeks to get our 32 week ultrasound. It will be amazing to be able to see Baby D again!

30 weeks!!! Little guy isn't so little anymore...

Belly shot! Stretch mark free....keeping fingers and toes crossed
it stays this way!
