20 Down, 20 To Go!

OFFICIALLY HALFWAY THERE!!!! Our little guy is 20 weeks old. Only 20 weeks left until Baby D enters the world.

Baby's now the size of a cantaloupe!
Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies respond best to tastes they've already had via amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you'd like your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.

IT'S A BOY!!!!

Adam and I are having a precious baby boy! We could not be more thrilled. We got to watch our little guy for about 15 minutes on the screen this morning. He was active as could be - we already can tell we're going to have our hands full with this man! We also found out that the reason I haven't been feeling him moving yet is because I have an anterior placenta. Basically this means Baby D implanted behind the placenta, so my placenta is acting as a pillow between our little dude and my belly. Once he gets bigger and stronger I will be feeling him just fine. So, all is good there. Even though I am only 19 weeks and 6 days pregnant, Baby D was measuring at 20 weeks and 4 days. The doctor said everything will even out as time goes on so my due date isn't changing - we're still on track for 14 June. He looked as healthy as could be - spine, brain, and heart all looked great. His heartbeat was measuring at 148 bpm. All fingers and toes were there and looked adorable. I am in love.

Tomorrow I'll do my 20 week update, but until then, here are the pictures of the day!

The Mercedes of Baby Swings

Even though we still have 4 1/2 months to go until the arrival of Baby D, Adam and I are getting started on making sure we have everything we need for the baby. Those who know us well, won't be surprised that we're starting so early. |

This past week we received two awesome baby essentials in the mail. Great Grandma (GG) Kathy called me the other week and said she wanted to buy a swing for Baby D. Adam and I of course had already done the research on what swing we wanted and GG told us to send the link and she would purchase! Adam and I knew this would be a great swing,  but it wasn't until it arrived in the mail the other day when Adam coined it the "Mercedes of Baby Swings." This swing is absolutely phenomenal. You can either plug it in or use batteries, it swings both side to side and front to back, and it has two different positions for the baby to sit in. Also, it plays 16 songs (6 playtime, 6 lullaby) and 4 different nature sounds. If this wasn't enough, it has a rotating mobile and a star light show that plays on the canopy. Yes, you heard me right...a light show that plays on a canopy! You can't make this stuff up. THANK YOU GG!!!

For Christmas, Grandma and Grandpa Donat gave Adam and me a generous monetary gift to use towards Baby D. Adam and I decided this was the perfect time to buy a stroller. After lots of research and window shopping, we found the perfect one. As most strollers these days, this is a stroller/car seat combo that will grow with Baby D until s/he is 50 pounds. Adam and I currently don't plan to use the stroller too much in the first few months (we mainly want to use slings and carriers for bonding purposes), but I'm sure there will be days when this stroller really comes in handy. We'll definitely take full advantage of it when Baby D gets a little older. We also went ahead and ordered a second car seat adapter thingy (yeah, I don't know what the official name it for it and I'm too lazy to go look at the box), so Adam and I can easily put the car seat in either car on any given day. THANK YOU GRANDMA AND GRANDPA DONAT!!!

Yes, those are elephants. Could you ask for anything cuter?

19 Week Update!

There will be tons to say next week as we hit the halfway mark in my pregnancy and Adam and I will finally know if we're having a boy or a girl. I'm still anxiously awaiting feeling Baby D move for the first time. For first time pregnancies feeling the first movement can happen anytime between 18 and 24 weeks. Hope it happens soon! Until then I'll just leave you with my 19 week belly shot. :)

Belly is really starting to pop!

18 Weeks and Feeling Fine

Not much to report this week. I'm still feeling amazing. This pregnancy has been seamless so far. My growing belly is the only thing that reminds me I'm pregnant. I still haven't felt any movements, but am told that it could happen any week now.  Still stretch mark free (fingers crossed it stays this way). I'm rubbing lotion on my belly twice a day - not sure if it actually does anything, but might as well do it anyway! I'm fortunate that my energy levels have stayed pretty high so far so I'm still able to get to the gym about five times a week. Hopefully I'm able to stay this healthy throughout the remainder of my pregnancy.

This week little Baby D is 5 1/2 inches long and five ounces in weight. S/he is in there twisting, rolling, kicking, and punching his/her way around the womb. Little Baby D is also developing yawning and hiccupping skills, and also has his/her own set of toe in fingerprints.

New Baby, New Year

It's still so surreal to think that this is the year Adam and I will become three. We continue to grow more and more excited every day that passes. Less than 3 weeks to go until we find out if we're having a boy or girl!

Today starts the first day where I try and take belly progression pictures not  in my pjs. Even though I won't have much to say the next couple of weeks, I think it's time for the weekly bump pictures since I am starting to grow like crazy. Adam and I need to find a spot with better light next week and this black sweater is not doing the bump justice, but here I am at 17 weeks cooked!
